We're heading to LA next week--Dec 7, for the Premiere of Crazy Heart, Dec 8 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre in Hollywood. It will be a red carpet event. I've already screened the film in New York, and it's very good. Jeff Bridges does a fine job as Bad Blake, and Maggie Gyllenhaal is wonderful as Jean. Great sound track by T Bone Burnett and the late Stephen Bruton.

While I'm in Hollywood, I'll be doing some press events for Fox Searchlight, attending screenings and doing question and answers with Jeff Bridges, Robert Duvall, Maggie Gyllenhaal and T Bone Burnett. I doubt that any one will be asking me many questions. As a matter of fact, I already feel like Admiral Stockdale in the '92 Perot campaign--"Who am I, and why am I here?"

But this is a once in a lifetime experience, I think, and Randy and I intend to have a great time with it.

Shavetail has won the Spur Award for 2008 best western novel over 90,000 words from the Western Writers of America.

Shavetail has also been selected as a finalist for the Texas Institute of Letters Jesse Jones Award for best book of fiction in 2008.
